GAUDY BIGGS
INTRODUCING:
Gaudy Biggs
Explain what your name means?:
I wanted a name to represent me thoroughly as a human being on and off records . Biggs is actually last name so that part was easy. Gaudy by definition means extravagantly bright or showy, typically so as to be tasteless. synonyms: garish, lurid, loud, overbright, glaring, harsh, violent, showy, glittering, brassy, ostentatious; More. I'm all of that from my truth, fashion/jewelry, my mentally, and definitely how I live my life. Its not so much about the superficial things as it is my personality and energy. I stand out in most rooms, I communicate with a loud truth, and I live life loudly. To me these are all valuable things but I also realize that all these things are often looked at as being tasteless ... that's how your interpreted when you move outside of social nomrs and are noticeably different from the average person. Lastly is just fly as fuck lol!
What city and state are you representing?:
Columbia SC
Describe your style of singing or rapping?:
Lyric driven, high energy, suspenseful, comical, blunt, and just literally Unique.
I'm big on the quality of verses and hooks as far as word play, being clever, using double to quadruple entendres, rhyme schemes, metaphors and so on. I craft my lyrics carefully so that the flow and cadence is magnetic and relevant, but the most in depth hip hop lover will be fed and yet still, the common music lover can follow and be excited.
Who inspired you to pursue a music career?:
What inspired my was an era of music more than a single individual. I'm an 80's baby so I grew up on the 90's Hip Hop. From Wu-Tang Clan, Trick Daddy, Nas, Outcast to Jay Z I saw the beauty and depth of words. They did so many amazing things with words that I fell in love with the art. So the 90's era of hip hop inspired me to pursue a music career!
What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music?:
I really didnt come across many. Pretty typical ... dad wanted me to do something more concrete and certain ... mom supported. Only issue I really had then and now is just working with people you consider your family/close friends. Pride, selfishness, jealousy, and lack of being business minded are cancers in this grind.
Describe your feelings when you’re recording music in the studio:
I feel like I found a loop hole in life. Nothing else exist or is important.
What is the message behind your music?:
you can reach much further than whats common, to think differently ... its ok to have an adverse opinion. Be an individual.
What do you fear the most in this business?:
Only thing I fear in conforming to the mentalities, moves, moral of the the people in the business. I fear not being or living me.
Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?:
Definitely! I was featured a couple of years ago. I was really proud of the time, energy, and professionalism that went into my feature. It looked great and was written the same. I've seen how much the brand has grown in such a short period of time so I'm more than excited to be apart of RNH again.

THAI

INTRODUCING:
THAi
Explain What Your Name Means:
My birth name is Tatyana. I have two nicknames, Ty and Taty. I originally started out spelling Ty as T-Y until I changed the spelling to Thai. It’s the same pronunciation but different spelling. Thai is short for the Southwest Asian Country, Thailand. People often ask me am I mixed with Asian and Black. So after being asked this question so many times, I decided to change the spelling of my nick name to Thai and to also use it as my stage name.
What city and state are you representing?
Houston Texas
Describe Your Style Of Singing:
I have a soft and soothing R&B sound. I like to compare myself to Jhene Aiko. My singing style is similar to her singing style. It’s chill and calm and relaxing.
Who inspired you to pursue a music career?
I’ve been singing since the age of seven. I used to watch the Disney show, “The Best of Both Worlds,” starring Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus and I would sing all of the songs on that show. It was then that my mom realized that I had a singing voice and it was also the moment I found that I love music and singing. My mom encouraged me to join the little Sunshine Choir at our church at the time where I sang in the soprano section and led many songs. I guess you can say that Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana inspired me but my mom encouraged me to go after my dreams.
What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music career?
I’m still a youth. I’m only 18 years old and I am facing many challenges in pursuit of my music career. But the one thing that’s most challenging is when I am constantly being told, “no” or, “not this time” or, “You’re still young. You have time to grow.” I have been to many auditions and have competed in many talent competitions and those are some of the discouraging things that I have been told. Well when you’ve been turned away so many times you sort of develop a feeling of doubt. Which has happened to many so many times and I have wanted to quit and give up and say, “To hell with it all.” But my mom has always encouraged me not to quit and to never give up on my dreams. So being turned away so many times has actually become my motivation. If you say I can’t do it then I will work that much harder to prove you wrong. I am in control of my destiny. I have to believe in myself when none else believes in me. Nothing but positive vibes in my life at this moment.
Describe your feelings when you’re recording in the studio:
When I am in the studio recording, I am in the zone. I’m in my element. I’m in my own little musical world. Nothing else and no one else exists when I’m in the studio, except for my music and getting it right and putting in work. I’m focused and I basically tune everything out and clear my head. I’m in a positive state of mind when I am in the studio.
What is the message behind your music?
My music so far, is about relationships and getting your heart broke, and trying to pick yourself back up and live again. Although, I am 18 yrs. old, I’ve had my heart broken before twice, so my music is based upon my life’s experiences. I want my fans to be able to relate to my music which is why I write music that is real life.
What do you fear most in this business?
The one thing that I fear the most in this business is being taken advantage of and not being taken seriously.
Are you excited to be featured in RNH Magazine?
Yes, I am very excited.
